Who: Mikey and Kitty
What: Shopping for a birthday present for Gerard
Where: First Gerard's place and then on to the mall.
When: Wednesday Afternoon

me aka Kitty: Glad she had no kind of jetlag at all Kitty was happy to be in LA again. Normally she would have headed to her hometown on New York but since Gerard's birthday was coming up and she wanted to give him a present as she wouldn't be there on the day itself. She'd be in Australia by then so now that she had some time she just wanted to drop by and give him an early present. Thing was she had no idea what to get him and that was why she needed Mikey's help. As his brother she was sure he would know what Gerard would like to have.

She was glad LynZ had offered her one of the spare bedrooms and the nap she had taken had been great. Now, finally awake and feeling good, Kitty headed to the living room wondering if the guys would be home or at the studio as she knew they were working on new material. LynZ was napping, as she was doing a lot lately, and it seemed like she was home alone. Heading toward the kitchen she sat down at the table and yawned slightly. Food would be a good idea. She had to come up with a present idea and food always helped her think.

Them aka Mikey: It was no surprise Mikey still had to get something for his brother's birthday. It wasn't that he didn't know about all those things Gerard was into, but he just wasn't all that sure what to get him. Something artsy. Something nerdy, even though sometimes those things easily went hand-in-hand. Maybe some more art materials even though the younger Way brother had gotten that for him during Christmas after considering a few of those suggestions from Lindsay. Made it much easier to find something when you had an inside source which was around him every single day. After pulling himself and all of his gear together after recording a few pieces for new material, he headed over to his brother's to keep that date to pick out presents with Kitty. After all, if the trip to Australia didn't pan out for him thanks to the recording schedule, he definitely didn't want to miss the opportunity to meet up with her before then.

"Morning." Mikey said as he walked into the kitchen, glancing at his phone for a second since he really hadn't known what time it was. Chances were he would have to go back to record a bit more later, but for now he had someone else to see and some birthday shopping to do. Shoving it back into his pocket, he rested his arms on the back of one of the chairs at the table, giving Kitty a smile.

"Or afternoon, actually." Linds was sleeping, no doubt, so Mikey kept himself quiet. Not like he was amazingly loud anyway, but no need to wake the mother-to-be up.

Kitty: All morning long Kitty had been looking through different catalogs she had find though the house. They all contained more comics and collectibles then she had seen before but she had no idea what Gerard's favorite comic was and what he did and didn't have. Shopping for him was going to be hard that was something she was certain about but she had someone who could help her out and that made her happy. Especially since that someone was Mikey.

Hearing his voice Kitty looked up and smiled. It was the afternoon already but she knew how it went with recording. All sense of time was lost. She knew they probably wouldn't have much time together because of the recording but she was glad they were able to at least spend some of their limited time together.

"Afternoon indeed. Now don't tell Gerard but all the other cereal was eaten so I stole some of his Frankenberry." She spoke in a soft tone as she knew Linds never closed the bedroom door during her afternoon naps and Kitty just didn't want to wake her up. "I looked through this catalogue but maybe just going to the mall and looking for something there might be a better idea. Especially since I don't know what his favorite comic is and I don't want to end up getting him something he already has."

Mikey: Mikey was pretty sure he didn't even know what all Gerard had and what he didn't, reaching over for a catalogue nearby only to flip through a few pages, mentally pointing out those few things he knew for sure - without a shadow of a doubt - Gerard already had in his possession. Comics, however, were always a good route to go and perhaps there was a decent store around the southern California area which had something. He laughed a little bit at the mention of cereal, glancing about the kitchen for a second as if expecting to find some clue that she had snagged some Frankenberry.

"I don't think he'll mind. It just means someone is going to have to bring him some more." He replied, "That should be his birthday present: Boxes and boxes of Frankenberry." With how much cereal he went through between those bowls snagged by any one of the guys, it really wasn't all that bad an idea to Mikey albeit a little ridiculous for a thirty-second birthday. Little disposable too since it wasn't like it would last another year until his next birthday rolled around.

"Any ideas on what you're after?" As far as object itself rather than something comic book related. "He has a lot of favorites. I don't even know which one he is totally into right now is." Since they had been spending more time looking at cars and trying not to die in Los Angeles traffic more than talking geek.

Kitty: The whole idea of the boxes and boxes of Frankenberry as a birthday present made kitty laugh but strange enough at the same time it was a good idea as she was certain Gerard was going to love it. "You know... That's actually not a bad idea. We should get him like... 32 boxes. One for every year. Just as a joke though we should get him a real present as well."

She had been thinking of getting him a deluxe copy of Watchmen as she had seen a hardcover one at a comic store she had driven past but what if he had it already? "Well... I saw a really nice hardcover version of Watchmen which had a lot of extras other copies didn't but now I just had an idea."

Biting her lip Kitty started to twirl her hair around her finger. It was one of her nervous habits and she as nervous as she didn't even know if Mikey would like her idea. "He's been looking for a Trans Am right? Well... How about we look for a miniature one and get him some car horns? Like... Ones that really make a noise when you blow your horn and will make people go 'What the fuck?' when they hear it." She knew it was a silly idea but at least that way LA traffic would notice Gerard and he had been complaining about not getting noticed by other people while in traffic.

Mikey: "You have taken an already awesome idea and made it even better." Mikey said with a laugh of his own over the idea of Gerard being surprised with boxes of cereal, covering his mouth a little bit just in case he was a little too loud in the rather quiet house. Of course there would be a real present, Mikey canting his head slightly as he tried to think on whether or not Gerard had a hard copy of the comic. More than likely, but if it had more extras, what was having another copy around?

"He might. I wouldn't put it past him to have it already." He said, sitting himself down so he wasn't just standing there. The mention of the car horn was definitely on his mind after she had brought it up, Mikey nodding his head. After all, it was one more means of being noticed rather than run off the road. "I think you may just have something there." He nodded, "Can always window shop a bit too. See if anything else jumps out." But as far as he could tell, that was a damn good idea for someone complaining about traffic.

Kitty: She smiled happily glad how they together had come up with at least one great present idea for Gerard. They needed more and she knew that they'd think up something. Window-shopping would probably help as well because there were always some things that popped out. She nodded not surprised Gerard probably already had a hardcover copy. "Yeah me neither seeing with how much of a geek he can be at times."

Thinking more about the car horn she wondered where they could score one. She didn't know a thing about cars and she was certain no ordinary garage would have what they where looking for. "Well I know he was complaining about traffic so him getting noticed more would most definitely make him happy, right?" Thinking more about the window-shopping she knew they'd probably get something funny that way. "I'm not very familiar here and I don't know if you are but shall we grab a car or just drive there?"

Mikey: "At times?" Mikey asked, smiling since he hadn't ever really known Gerard to not be nerdy. Serious moments, sure, but otherwise? Not so much. "More like 'all the time'." Mikey said, tapping his fingers on his arm for a second as he also gave it a little more though. Window-shopping was the way to go as far as he could tell aside from those ideas they had already picked out.

"Definitely." He agreed, nodding as he stood himself up, wondering where he had left his keys for a second, hoping he hadn't done something totally absentminded and locked them in the car or anything. "Would have to drive down there. Traffic is horrible, but we have to brave it if we want to get anything done."

Kitty: Kitty covered her mouth with her hand as she laughed as to not wake up Lindsey. Mikey was right. Gerard really was a nerd but if they'd call him that to his face she knew a whole train of "nuhuh" and denials would come from Gerard so she made the mental note to never call him one to his face.

As soon as Mikey got up Kitty did the same and nodded. "Okay let me just get my jacket and put some shoes on and we'll brave the LA traffic." She knew it really was terrible and didn't blame Gerard for complaining about it. New York traffic was bad but LA traffic was insane. After just a few minutes she came back and put her wallet in the pocket of her jacket. "I'm ready to go if you are."

Mikey: He waited for her to get her jacket, glancing to his phone for a second in the meanwhile. The train of nuhuhs was something he was completely used to; wouldn't change his mind about that at all. Too much evidence otherwise.

"Alright." He said with a small smile, heading back to the door with keys in hand, stepping out after dropping his sunglasses back onto his face. Hopefully this time around, it wouldn't be such a frantic driving trip. Then again, it was L.A. and almost unbelievably crowded.

Kitty: Putting on her huge sunglasses that almost covered half her face Kitty followed Mikey outside and toward his car. "You know what I find funny? In the movies they make it out like there is no traffic in LA and that you can easily get everywhere. So you come here hoping that's right and then bam reality slaps you in the face."

Getting into his car the minute she sat down Kitty put on her seatbelt. "You're not an insane driver like Bob is right?" She had heard about his driving and if she was honest with herself she was glad she had never been in a car with him.

"You know... I was thinking.... If we can't find what we're looking for I say we get him, and Linds as well of course, year passes to Disneyland. I know he told Jimmy he was jealous of him for having one."

Mikey: "So not true although I'm finding out everything just about closes at six pm." Mikey said, laughing as he climbed into the driver's side, snapping on his buckle and pulling away from the building, already checking out traffic perhaps a little more than average. It wasn't that he wasn't all that sure about his driving abilities; It was just that L.A. traffic was a little scary sometimes. Most the time.

"I promise I'm not as insane as Bob and I don't think this car can pull off some of those moves." Mikey replied, shaking his head a little bit and relaxing a bit more once they were on the road, on a straight away where hopefully someone wouldn't smash right into them or anything.

"That almost sounds like a better gift than a bunch of cereal." He said, brow piquing slightly over the top of his sunglasses as he thought on it. What was just as good as Frankenberry cereal? The happiest place on Earth.

Kitty: "Another Hollywood lie we've been told." Kitty said laughing softly as she kept her eyes on the road. LA traffic was the reason why she preferred New York. Not that traffic there wasn't scary, hell it was but LA was just a bit scarier. A lot scarier.

"Well I didn't think you were seeing as, well it's Bob we're talking about and I think it be hard to top his level of insanity." Sure it wasn't very nice what she said about Bob but it was all in a joking manner and she knew that if Bob would hear about it he'd probably say Kitty was right.

"You know.... We should get him the frankenberry AND the season passes and tell him one box contains a special price. Can you see him frantically tearing every box open just to try and find it?" Then she realized the wrath of Lindsey she'd suffer once back. "Let's scratch that idea. I rather not get my ass kicked because, thanks to me, the whole house was covered with Frankenberry."

Mikey: Mikey let out a laugh, the whole idea of Gerard tearing open boxes of Frankenberry to get to year passes at Disneyland was just too hilarious to pass up, made even more amusing by what Lindsey would have to go through even though the stress of that wouldn't be good.

"It'd make matters even worse if we didn't even put them in the box, but told him anyway." He replied, shaking his head a little bit since it was such a cruel idea.

"And it clearly takes a SWAT team to take out Bob Bryar, so I don't think we'd stand a chance." He replied, keeping his eyes on traffic even if he was more lax about it. It wasn't his driving which worried him; Just everyone else since being far more comfortable with traffic made people, at times, more willing to pull some stupid move like cutting someone off.

Kitty: She cracked up over the idea just loving every minutes of it. "Oh god I can totally imagine it. He's be tearing open the boxes opening them getting frankenberry everywhere frantically looking for it and we'd be cruel enough to wait and when he'd go all 'Where's my special prize?!?' I'd ask you 'didn't you put it in there?' and you'd ask me 'I thought you did?' and I'd reply 'No you had them last.' and you'd fish them from your pocket going 'Whoop. Guess I forgot something'"

Wiping the tears from her eyes from the laughter she tried to calm down. "Would be quite hilarious to actually do that. even if Lynz would make me help clean the house I'd do it. Just because of how hilarious it would be."

Nodding in agreement she knew he was right "Bob could probably even escape them." Looking at the cars around them Kitty's eyes got huge. "look out!" she saw a car making a huge turn to get to the interstate. "Damn! People are insane here. Are you okay?"

Mikey: "That is so cruel." He said through the laughter, shaking his head. "But such a good idea minus the whole, cereal mess. I think we may have to stage that whole thing. Give him a few boxes and make him guess which one has the special prize. Well worth the possible clean up."

"I'm sure he could. You don't underestimate the skills of Bob." Mikey replied, eyes landing on that car without freaking out too badly as far as jerking the car. It just gave him a nice jolt as if to wake him up that little more about the traffic around him.

"I'm okay. Reminded why I like Jersey traffic and sort of wishing I was in a tank." He said, "Nothing beats a tank."

Kitty: "Cruel idea mostly end up being the best. I know this thanks to Jimmy. He can be even worse then me. No wait... He IS worse then me." she laughed a little and nodded agreeing to his suggestion. "I do believe you and I have not only come up with the perfect gift but also with the best way to present it to him." She was grinning like a fool but she just couldn't help it. she always did when she was happy and right now she was. Really happy even.

The car had managed to wipe the smile off of her face as it had scared he. Nodding she agreed on the tank. Nothing every truly beat a tank. Well maybe Dr. Manhattan did but that was beside the point. "Do you here about that kid who built himself a tank? It wasn't like a real tank but still a tank as it looked like one. I think there's even a vid on youtube about it."
